    A Christian theologian and culture war blogger sent out an SOS message to his readers: Help. HeChr had just posted a blog on the benefits of Biblical Christian sexual morality and was being mercilessly attacked online. Yes, the unchurched were at him but he could handle it. He’s an experienced debater. It was the putative Christians who criticised him as well that precipitated the SOS. The blogger wanted his readers to comment in support of his stance. It may sound strange that there is not a solid consensus on something as fundamental as Biblical morality. One of the key reasons is that only a fraction of Christians have a Scriptural worldview whereby they live. Biblical illiteracy is the key reason for this. It is a familiar and eerie sight. People walking around in public with white gas masks, like they did during the Spanish flu pandemic in 1919 or the SARS outbreak in 2003. Traffic jams are non-existent because the streets are deserted. Many places of business are closed. The scene looks apocalyptic! Why the altered behaviour? Because out of Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, perhaps from a poultry or livestock vendor ‘wet market,’ came a fast-spreading virus called Coronavirus, officially known as Covid-19. Several cities in China went into ‘lock-down’ to prevent spreading. Unfortunately, for various reasons, the virus in China spread rapidly around the world. In our last edition, we saw how US President Donald Trump made an impromptu visit to McLean Bible Church in Vienna, Virginia, a suburb of Washington DC. He was at the church for only 11 minutes. He received prayer from the Senior Minister, Dr. David Platt, and then quietly left the church without making any public comments. The date of the prayer: 2 June 2019, was called a Day of Prayer for the President by Franklin Graham. Dr. Platt was in a ‘no-win’ situation. He received criticism within his church because some members were ‘hurt for a variety of valid reasons’ (his words) that he prayed for the Presidents. It was the most heated and difficult confirmation of a US Supreme Court justice in modern history. Despite every attempt to derail his nomination, Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in as the 114th justice of America’s highest court. It was an especially significant victory for US President Donald Trump. Kavanaugh is a highly qualified and respected jurist. He had received seven thorough background checks and in all areas he came out squeaky clean. So then, why did accusations of sexual assault against Judge Kavanaugh cause such a firestorm? Why the fuss? What were the reasons for this conflict, which grabbed global headlines?
