The Shooting of Donald Trump: Who’s To Blame?

Part One of Two Parts It was only a matter of time. This dreadful event had been predicted and prophesied. Prayer alerts went out to pray for supernatural protection. Then, on Saturday night, July 13th 2024, at an outdoor campaign rally for Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, several shots rang out. Pandemonium briefly ensued, and three men in the audience were hit. One of the men, Corey Camperatori, 50, an ex-fire chief, an enthusUS Election, iastic churchgoer and a family man, was fatally wounded while using his body to shield his wife and daughter. The other two were seriously injured but expected to recover. A bullet hit Trump but grazed his right ear; he missed death by millimetres.   What was at stake was more than the life of a prominent politician. America’s future hung in the balance with the prospect of civil war not far away. Unfortunately, assassinations and attempted assassinations are not a new phenomena. Four US Presidents were assassinated: Abraham Lincoln (1865); ...

USD 31 Trillion - America Hits the Debt Ceiling - Now What?

It looks like a regular billboard but the content is not regular at all. Instead of advertising the latest perfume, theatre program, or sporting event, it provides up-to-date information - no, not the time nor the weather - but America’s national debt. The billboard is in New York City and is known as the ‘National Debt Clock.’ As of January, America’s federal debt was $31,341,547,109. That’s $31 trillion (each trillion is a million dollars a million times) in debt. Wrap your mind around that figure. As a bonus, the debt clock adds another piece of information: Your family’s share of the debt is $237,520 per family.   America’s national debt has been frightfully increasing over many years. In the current US administration, Congress has passed several spending bills totalling over $6 trillion. Credible complaints point out that there is much ‘pork’ among the beef, including the recent 4,000-page omnibus spending $1.7 trillion, which was hastily passed before the incoming Congress to...

Future Ready - What to Watch for in 2023

The 20 20s have been a decade unlike anything we have seen in living memory, even surpassing the turbulent 1960s. For many people, it has caused a lot of fear and much of it is misdirected. People are afraid of global warming, environmental apocalypse, and being called pejorative names like racists, misogynists, etc. The rise of ‘wokery,’ ‘wokeism,’ or just plain ‘woke’ - now in overt overdrive - with its punitive cancel culture, causes much trepidation. Yet, as someone put it: the only fear you need is the fear of the Lord; once attained, it will cancel out all other fears.   In this article, we will give you a few places to watch - and pray - as well as some practical tips on how to handle the future. The Western World Western civilisation, based on Greek telos , Roman jurisprudence, and most of all, Judaeo-Christianity, has lifted many out of poverty, recognised human rights, respect for the individual, granted equality of opportunity and unparalleled freedoms, and fostered sci...

2022 What to Watch Out For? (Yes, There is Good News) Part 02

Our ability to function and lead is proportional to being equipped to see further down the road than others. With 2022 shaping up to be a most eventful year, we need to know what to look for. In Part 01, we looked at how 2022 is a year of elections in key countries, the UK was in focus and included the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee (seventy years on the throne), the global economy, and culture war. We continue to focus on key places and events so we watch and pray with knowledge, insight, and anointing. CHINA In some ways modern China has made some impressive progress in the last seven decades. When the People’s Republic of China was declared in 1 October 1949, it was a feudal and backward nation of five-hundred million people, including three million Catholics and one million Protestants. Look what’s happened since. China, a land of many dialects, standardised the (Mandarin) Chinese language so that the Han Chinese and the country’s fifty-six minorities groups can speak to each other; all ...

Has Australia Gone Covid-Mad? Part 03 - How to Respond

So far we have looked at the heavy-handed approach by Australia’s state and territory governments in handling the Covid-19 pandemic. Their tactics have gained international attention and censure. Melbourne has been singled out for the most onerous (snap) lockdowns in the world. ‘Quarantine camps’ have sprung up in Northern Territory and Queensland, with more planned elsewhere. The visa cancellation of world tennis champion Novak Djokovic in Melbourne also brought renewed attention to the land ‘down under.’ Vaccine mandates have divided family, society, and even churches. It is no exaggeration to say that normal checks and balances of a parliamentary democracy have been challenged during this crisis. In Part 02 we looked at some of the reasons for Australia’s Covid-response, including progressivism, hunger for power by some, isolationism, culture war fallout, apathy, media, and irrationality, which has been shown elsewhere. In this third and final part, we ask a simple question: What ca...

Now the Good News: Churches Fight Back & Win

Fight Back & Win Are you feeling pressurised, harassed, and battle weary? Join the club. Many are experiencing these very same things. And no wonder … since the start of the decade, there has been an exceptionally intense spiritual atmosphere in the world. Covid-19, lockdowns, BLM riots, a disputed election, Afghanistan withdrawal, are all symptoms of this great unseen spiritual battle. In our recent editions of Issachar, we focused on the extremely concerning situation in Canada regarding Covid-19 restrictions. Pastors were being arrested and jailed, while fifty plus churches (some/many of them indigenous), were being burned or vandalised. This month, we focus on some good news. It is how churches, particularly in the United States, have valiantly and fearlessly fought against unjust Covid-19 restrictions. Often, these edicts were unevenly applied to churches, while letting leftist protestors and secular businesses have a long leash. Restrictions were meant to be ‘tempor...

AMERICA ABLAZE: Making Sense of the Senseless

It all started as a simple tragedy. George Floyd, age 46, a 6’ 7” African-American was arrested in Minneapolis for allegedly trying to buy cigarettes with counterfeit money. Mr. Floyd was handcuffed and pinned to the ground for 30 minutes. ‘I can’t breath’ said the gentle giant’ as the officer continued to place pressure on his body. He lost consciousness, was taken to hospital, and pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The four Minneapolis police officers involved in the incident were immediately fired. However, Devin CHAUVIN, age 44, a white former police officer, was charged with 3rd degree murder and manslaughter. For many in the African-American community, this arrest was not enough. Why did it take days to arrest the former police officer? Why only a 3rd degree murder charge, not 1st degree? Why weren’t the other officers charged with murder, at least as accessories to the crime? The perception that a black man under white police is in greater peril than a white, continues...
